Is the update available through WordPress admin or do I have to download the theme files and upload, overwriting the existing theme files?

Also had another glitch where yesterday I created a custom header and saved, all was working fine. But today when returning to the site the header rows where there but the content for each row had been removed. Any idea what might have caused that? I can’t afford issues like that once the site goes live.
