Thanks for your post.
You can get better loading speed by applying the following
1- install W3 Total Cache plugin and enable CSS and JS minifiers (https://wordpress.org/plugins/w3-total-cache/)
2- enable compression of CSS and JS files (http://ravinama.com/wordpress-speed-optimization-safe-htaccess-way/)
Please let me know how that works out 🙂
and let me know if you need help setting any of those up

Thanks for the clear directions. I installed W3 Total Cache and enabled minification, however, I received the following error:
Plugin could not solve the minify auto issue automatically.
Any thoughts?February 14, 2016 at 1:30 am #7531
Also, step 2 (enable compression) won’t work for me because WordPress is running in Azure, so there is not htaccess file. Other suggestions?February 14, 2016 at 2:29 am #7532
This also appears to be fairly significant problem with the page speed load, as reported by Google Page Speed test:
Your page has 4 blocking script resources and 27 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.
None of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered without waiting for the following resources to load. Try to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML.

I am sorry but I am not at all familiar with setting this on Azure
I’ve search and found this article https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/10-ways-to-speed-up-your-wordpress-site-on-azure-websites/
I am sorry I wasn’t of much help, please let me know if there is anything else I could assist with.
