When I place embed videos from YouTube or Vimeo on the website, they do not appear in the correct 16×9 format. There is always a black bar at the top and the bottom. How can I fix this?

BTW, this is in the Circle Flip theme

    Hello Sonja,

Can you please share the way you’re sharing videos with?

We are uploading videos to Vimeo and then embedding them on our website using the Circle Flip theme. The theme does not show the videos in a 16×9 ratio. There is a black bar above and below the video. Please see these pages:https://www.agmonitoring.com/news/videos/. Here’s another page: https://www.agmonitoring.com/employment/.

In the Circle Flip theme, we are using the media block in the page builder. The only option after that is to embed the URL.

I want the videos to show in the correct format without the black bar above and below.

    Hello Sonja,

    Thanks for the details,
The Media block uses the boxed layout.
I recommend using a shortcode block and adding the Embed code in it

I tried this now and I believe that’s the one you’re looking for
feel free to remove the <p>….</p> from the embed code if you don’t want that text showing.

    Regards

Sorry. I don’t understand. Could you please give step by step instructions? What do I do after I select and place the short code box from the page builder? When I open it asks for Shortcode #, content, margin bottom and full width short code? Where does this embed code go? http://youtu.be/Jc5HXxkm7rs

    What does this mean?
“feel free to remove the <p>….</p> from the embed code if you don’t want that text showing.”

I am asking these questions and using this theme because I’m not a programmer. Please help me with clear instructions.

    Hello Sonja,

    I understand πŸ™‚

    Sorry if I wasn’t clear

After you add the shortcode block
Add the embed code to the “Content” place holder
    embed code: http://goo.gl/8KTJWr
    shortcode block: http://goo.gl/uJn86D

the last part about the <p> … </p> is only for vimeo
as they add a link to the embed code
    example vimeo embed code

    <iframe src=”https://player.vimeo.com/video/130384479?title=0&byline=0&portrait=0″ width=”500″ height=”281″ frameborder=”0″ webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>
<p>AvantGuard Barbeque from Avantguard Monitoring Centers on Vimeo.</p>

This code would show you a text line after the video with the text

“AvantGuard Barbeque from Avantguard Monitoring Centers”

If you don’t want this line of text simply remove the part where <p> starts until </p>

    so it would look like
    <iframe src=”https://player.vimeo.com/video/130384479?title=0&byline=0&portrait=0″ width=”500″ height=”281″ frameborder=”0″ webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>

    That’s it πŸ™‚

Please let me know if you need any help,
and I would love to hear about your experience so far with CircleFlip if you have time.

    Regards

It worked! I copied the entire embed code into the content area of the short code box and adjusted the height and width. I love this theme. It’s clean and timeless. When I need help I get a response within 24 hours and then they help me through the problem. Thanks!
